İnterstitial Cystitis

Interstitial cystitis; It is a chronic inflammatory (inflammatory) reaction of the bladder in the absence of microbiological agents, in which there are complaints of pain in the pelvic region (especially in the bladder region), frequent urination, constant urgency, urinary incontinence. 90% of patients are women, the age of onset of symptoms is often between 30-50 years.


What are the symptoms? • Bladder pain, • Frequent urination, • Constant urge to urinate, The feeling of pain usually becomes more pronounced as the bladder fills, and decreases at different rates when urinating. •Complaints of patients are generally in the form of exacerbation and recovery periods. •Sexual intercourse is often painful for both men and women. • Fibromyalgia, musculoskeletal pain, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, autoimmune diseases, depression, allergy and migraine are observed more frequently.


How is the diagnosis made?


The diagnosis of interstitial cystitis is made by excluding other diseases with similar findings. The following tests can be done to make this distinction: Detailed History Physical Examination Urine Analysis and Culture Questionnaire Forms and Urination Chart Potassium Sensitivity (Parsons) Test Urodynamics What are the Treatment Methods for Cystoscopy? Conservative Approach: Informing the patient about the diseaseLifestyle changes: avoiding stress, doing sports, learning to relax the pelvic floor muscles, warm shower baths, etc. Diet: Especially onions, tomatoes, legumes, citrus fruits such as bananas, apples, apricots, oranges, tangerines and lemons, peaches, nectarines, yogurt, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and especially spicy dishes, vinegar, some salad dressings, artificial flavorings, alcohol from beverages or those containing caffeine such as coffee and colas, some fruit juices and tea are known to increase patients' complaints. It will be useful to try them individually and remove those who increase the complaints from the diet. Step 1: Medication Treatments In interstitial cystitis, medical treatment starts with oral tablets. Depending on the situation, it can pass to drugs applied into the bladder. 2.Step Treatment: Cystoscopy+Hydrodistension and Resection of Hunner's Ulcers 3.Step Treatment:Intrabladder Filler Application and Sacral Neuromodulation4.Step Treatment:Cyclosporin A and intramural botulinum toxin A injections. 5th Step Treatment: Urinary Diversion + Cystectomy
